This Type-In will be held on the 4th floor of Prototype. Those who sign up will receive the code to buzz in to their email.

What Is a Type-In? 

A Type-In is an event that allows the community to engage with typewriters to write. The intention of these events is to open the experience of "free typing" without the interference of technology to as many people as possible. Typewriters may be technically "obsolete", but with a rise in popularity, it is no wonder we crave the simplicity and catharsis of using these endearing machines.

Theme:

This Type-In's theme will be RESOLUTIONS/REVOLUTIONS. As we welcome 2024, we are optimally positioned to make better choices for us and our world, (or not?) whatever that might mean from your vantage point. While this will be the guiding theme, you can create whatever you wish during the Type-In. 

How it Works:

During this Type-In, you will have the opportunity to use one (possibly more) of 6 vintage manual typewriters to compose your own work, which you'll take home with you. You may bring your own paper but there is no guarantee it will feed through the typewriter, especially if it is more than 65lbs. All materials will be provided to you.

No experience is needed. You will be guided on the use of the machine with a brief demo in the beginning, so please arrive on time! Throughout the Type-In you will be assisted with the use of the machine and best practices.
